Founder & Chairman of the Board
John Stabile founded H.J. Stabile & Son in 1973. The company was named after his father, Harry J. Stabile (1916-1962), who was a prominent builder and banker in the Boston area.
John's career in the construction industry began at Continental Homes of New England in Nashua, NH in 1969. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army Infantry and rose to the rank of First Lieutenant within two years. After his military service, John returned to Nashua and joined Border Corporation, one of New Hampshire's leading contractors. Within 24 months, he became Vice President and General Manager of the company. Two years later he founded H.J. Stabile & Son.
While overseeing H.J. Stabile & Son, John has taken a leadership role within his community and the state. He served three terms in the New Hampshire Senate as Senate Majority Leader and was chairman of the New Hampshire State Republican Party on four occasions. John has also served on the board of directors of such organizations as Catholic Medical Center, New Hampshire Chapter of the Red Cross, the Southern New Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, the Josiah Barlett Association, First Federal Savings and Loan, New Hampshire Savings Bank and the Land Conservation Investment. He has been a member of the Nashua Police Commission, served as a Trustee at Bridgton Academy and Norwich University for 10 years, and continues to serve on the Board of Trustees at Rivier and Hesser colleges in New Hampshire.
John has received many honors for his civic and professional work. He was named Builder of the Year in 1977 and received the Daniel Webster Council Boy Scouts Distinguished Citizen Award in 1991. He has been named one of the ten most powerful people in New Hampshire by Business New Hampshire magazine for three different years.
John is a graduate of Norwich University. John and his family reside in Nashua.
